Summer work role in Finance team

The Role:

Ward Personnel is a Recruitment Agency with offices in Cork, Dublin and Athlone which specialises in the Construction and Industrial sectors. Due to expansion, we have an opening for a summer student in our Cork office (located on Centre Park Road) for circa 3 to 4 months to support our busy Finance and Payroll department.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting the weekly payroll cycle – including checking timesheets, entering hours on to our payroll system, performing control checks and reconciliations etc.
  • Supporting the weekly invoicing cycle – including checking invoice calculations and the accuracy of the invoice details and performing checks and reconciliations etc.
  • Supporting the finance team with other duties such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, completing payroll and social welfare forms.
  • Supporting the Finance team with other tasks such as general administration, dealing with incoming calls and queries from candidates, and other general accounts work and analysis etc.

Key requirements

  • likely be currently studying for an Accountancy, Commerce or Business degree.
  • have an outgoing personality and excellent people skills.
  • be a strong communicator , both written and verbal.
  • be IT proficient, particularly word and excel.
  • ideally have some work experience with some exposure to an office based role an advantage.
  • hard working and a team player.
  • have excellent attention to detail and take pride in their work.

This role offers a great opportunity for finance/business student to obtain some accounting, payroll and office experience in a fast paced environment and growing company.

The hourly rate for the role is €11 gross per hour. Hours of work would be 8.30 to 5.00, Monday to Friday for the summer season. Please apply by submitting your CV by email to
