Job description

Location: Head Office – Blackrock/Mahon, Cork City

Reports to: Head of Finance

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Ward Personnel is a highly successful and award-winning recruitment agency, headquartered in Cork, with offices in Dublin and internationally in Poland and Denmark. We specialise in supplying staff to the Construction and Mechanical & Electrical sectors.

As part of our continued ambitious growth plans, we are now recruiting for an IT Systems Admin and Support Specialist to join our team in Cork.

This newly created, hands-on role is ideal for someone with 2–3 years’ experience who wants to own the day-to-day IT function, help deliver practical IT improvements, and grow into a broader IT operations role over time.

What You’ll Be Doing

Day-to-Day IT Support & Administration

  • Be the go-to support person for our team of 40+ staff across 4 offices
  • Provide full support on Microsoft 365, including laptops, mobile phones, printers, softphones, and security tools
  • Manage user setup, troubleshooting, and licensing across our internal tech stack:
  • Microsoft 365 (including upcoming Windows 11 upgrade & SharePoint rollout)
  • Recruit CRM (our recruitment system)
  • Wardal (our in-house timesheet and invoicing system)
  • QuickBooks, Dropbox, Google Drive, NitroPro

Systems & Vendor Management

  • Own the relationship with our external IT provider and aim to enhance and optimise our outsourcing model over time.
  • Track and manage hardware, licences, and renewals
  • Support IT budgeting and procurement alongside the Head of Finance

Projects & Improvement Work

  • Lead and deliver at least one IT improvement project in your first 6–12 months
  • Assist with internal dashboards, AI tools, and process automation where required
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to manage all aspects of our website and adopt a continuous improvement approach to same.
  • Document IT policies and procedures in collaboration with Compliance

Training & Collaboration

  • Train and support team members to get the most from our systems
  • Work closely with the Compliance and Finance teams — and be available to support staff across the business as needed

About You

We’re looking for a solid generalist who can hit the ground running and grow with the role.

You will:

  • Have 2–3 years’ experience in IT support or systems admin, and hold a relevant IT qualification
  • Be highly competent with Microsoft 365 administration
  • Have experience with or be confident quickly learning systems like Recruit CRM, QuickBooks, Dropbox/Google Drive
  • Be hands-on, comfortable rolling up your sleeves to deal with devices, connectivity, security, and user queries
  • Be proactive, positive, and calm under pressure
  • Be a team player — you’ll thrive in a business where everyone is respected
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills, and be comfortable delivering basic training and documentation

Why Join Us?

  • A newly created role — you’ll shape how IT runs across the business
  • Competitive salary, year-end bonus and pension
  • Excellent training and support — but with real autonomy to own your area
  • A great team culture and strong sense of purpose as we continue to scale.
