About the Project
Ward Personnel is proud to partner with a leading construction contractor delivering a landmark Major Health Care Project in Wexford Town.
This flagship healthcare development will comprise a 97-bed, six-storey acute ward facility, incorporating modern patient accommodation, therapy facilities, staff amenities, and associated infrastructure. The development represents a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure for the South East and will provide a state-of-the-art environment focused on patient care, dignity, and wellbeing.
We are seeking an ambitious and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join the project team and play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and wellbeing throughout the construction phase.
The Role
Reporting to the Site Management Team and Health & Safety Manager, the successful Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring full compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, company procedures, and client requirements on this complex live-site healthcare project.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Health and Safety Officer looking to develop their career on one of the South East’s most significant construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks.
- Monitor compliance with company health and safety management systems.
- Ensure safe systems of work are implemented and maintained across all site activities.
- Review and monitor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training initiatives.
- Support incident, accident, and near-miss investigations.
- Prepare reports and safety performance metrics for project management.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with project-specific safety requirements.
- Liaise with site management, client representatives, and regulatory bodies where required.
- Promote continuous improvement and a strong behavioural safety culture.
- Assist with emergency preparedness and response planning.
- Maintain accurate health and safety documentation and records.
Requirements
Essential
- Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety Officer role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of Irish Health & Safety legislation and construction regulations.
- Experience carrying out audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and reporting abilities.
- Full clean driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on healthcare, hospital, pharmaceutical, or large-scale commercial projects.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent professional qualifications.
- Membership of IOSH or a relevant professional body.
- Experience managing health and safety in live operational environments.
- First Aid Responder certification.
- Knowledge of digital safety management systems.
