Summary

Our client, a governmental organisation, requires Site Engineers and Site Technicians for drainage and flood risk management projects in the Tipperary region. The Site Engineer/s will predominately work out of the Templemore office.

Our client, a public sector organisation, requires Site Engineers and Site Technicians for drainage and flood risk management projects in the Tipperary region. The Site Engineer will predominately work out of the Templemore office.

 

The working hours will be from 08:30 to 17:00 Hours from Monday to Friday, inclusive. On occasion the successful candidate will be expected to work outside these hours as business need dictates.

 

The initial contract of the Site Engineer will be initially for a 6 month period, commencing on Monday the 25st of September. However there is a strong chance the position will be made extended beyond this initial period.

 

The successful Site Engineer candidate will have:

  • Level 7 (under National Framework of Qualifications, NFQ or equivalent) degree in Civil Engineering;
  • 3 years’ experience with a main contractor on the construction of civil engineering projects;
  • Current Safe Pass Card, Valid driving licence, Use of own transport.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and IT skills
  • The right to work in the EU

The role requires the management of the day-to-day activities of a direct labour workforce of up to 12 personnel and specialist sub-contractors. The following is a non-exhaustive list of duties for the Site Engineer:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Production of method statements and risk assessments and checking that works are carried out in accordance with such documentation.
  • Setting out including levelling / Total-station / GPS work.
  • Monitoring the works and ensuring that they are carried out in accordance with the design drawings and specification.
  • Supervise civil engineering activities such as excavation, shuttering, steel-fixing, concrete works, pipe / culvert lifting and placing etc., and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety procedures and legislation
  • Daily record keeping including Daily Allocation Sheets and Plant Sheets, site progress photographs.
  • Management of sub-contractors.
  • Disseminate information from drawings, specifications, etc. to foremen, operatives, subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required
  • Interpret design plans, specifications, and technical drawings to determine accurate on-site locations, measurements, and levels for construction activities.
  • Investigation and reporting on matters arising from project construction and maintenance, including review of technical reports and outputs prepared by engineering consultants as part of the delivery of flood relief schemes
  • Liaising with other public bodies, local authorities, local organisations and individuals including the assessment of applications for funding from local authorities to undertake minor flood alleviation and coastal protection works
  • Implementing QA procedures, concrete pre/post pour checks, RFI’s and resolving technical issues
  • Management of sub-contractors.
  • Disseminate information from drawings, specifications, etc. to foremen, operatives, subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required
  • Interpret design plans, specifications, and technical drawings to determine accurate on-site locations, measurements, and levels for construction activities.
  • Providing assistance with the procurement of goods and services.
  • Attending site meetings.
  • Liaising with the local authority and stakeholders including statutory agencies.
  • Disseminate information from drawings, specifications, etc. to foremen, operatives, subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required
  • Prepare and maintain accurate site reports and records, including daily diaries, site inspections, and progress reports
  • Interpret design plans, specifications, and technical drawings to determine accurate on-site locations, measurements, and levels for construction activities.
  • Providing assistance with the procurement of goods and services.
  • Attending site meetings.
  • Liaising with the local authority and stakeholders including statutory agencies.
  • Quality management including pre pour inspections.
  • Ensuring that any specified environmental controls are implemented during the works.
  • Maintaining of as-built records.
