Construction Director – Residential Projects

A leading building and civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced and driven Construction Director to oversee residential projects in the Cork region and beyond. About the Role

As Construction Director, you will be a key member of the senior management team, responsible for managing residential construction projects from early concept through to completion and handover. Initially focused on individual projects, the role offers a clear path to overseeing all residential developments in the region.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Recruit, mentor, and support team members to build a high-performing construction division.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for project updates and issue resolution.

Project Delivery

  • Oversee all phases of construction from concept through to handover.
  • Manage project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, safety standards, and environmental goals.

Commercial & Risk Management

  • Develop and manage project budgets, monitor cash flow, and control costs.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring contractual and legal obligations are met.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to manage claims and variations.

Quality & Safety

  • Implement and enforce health & safety protocols.
  • Maintain high standards of quality assurance across all projects.
  • Ensure adherence to accredited management systems and sustainability targets.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior management role within construction.
  • Proven track record in delivering large-scale residential projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and strategic thinking.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and IT systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and industry best practices.
