Construction Project Manager

Location: Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork
Project: Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Expansion
Contract Type: Permanent
Client: Tier‑1 Contractor

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major pharmaceutical manufacturing expansion on one of Ireland’s most advanced life sciences facilities.

This is a high‑profile, technically complex GMP project, involving new manufacturing space, spray drying facilities, cleanroom fit‑out, and significant MEP and process integration within a live operational environment.

The successful candidate will take full ownership of construction delivery, ensuring the project is executed safely, on programme, within budget, and in strict compliance with GMP, EHS, and quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Lead end‑to‑end construction delivery of the pharma expansion project
  • Manage the project from site mobilisation through to mechanical completion and handover
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with contract requirements, programme milestones, and cost targets

Programme & Commercial Control

  • Develop, manage, and report against detailed construction programmes
  • Coordinate sequencing of works in a live pharmaceutical facility
  • Work closely with commercial teams on:
    • Budget control
    • Forecasting
    • Change management
    • Subcontractor performance

Site & Team Management

  • Lead multidisciplinary site teams including:
    • Site Managers
    • Engineers
    • Subcontractors
  • Chair regular site coordination meetings
  • Drive a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Champion EHS excellence in line with and client  and company standards
  • Ensure full compliance with:
    • GMP
    • Regulatory and validation requirements
    • Client quality systems
  • Manage inspections, audits, and close‑out activities

Stakeholder & Client Interface

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the client, design team, and key stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Client engineering and CQV teams
    • Design consultants
    • Commissioning and validation partners
  • Provide clear, structured reporting to senior management

Experience & Background Required

Essential

  • 8+ years’ experience in construction project management
  • Proven track record delivering pharmaceutical, life sciences, biotech, or regulated industrial projects
  • Strong experience in:
    • GMP environments
    • Cleanroom and highly serviced buildings
    • Live site upgrades / brownfield projects
  • Excellent understanding of MEP and process‑led construction
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

  • Experience working on spray drying, oral solid dose, API, or high‑containment facilities
  • Previous delivery for multinational pharma clients
  • Experience working with CQV teams and regulated handover processes

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in:
    • Construction Management
    • Engineering
  • Trade or technical background with strong delivery experience will also be considered
  • Safe Pass / CSCS (or ability to obtain)
