The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced EHS Advisor to join a leading engineering contractor delivering a major 120kV substation project in Co. Meath.

This is a significant electrical infrastructure project and an ideal opportunity for a Health & Safety professional looking to further their career on a technically challenging, high-profile project.

Working closely with the Project Management and EHS teams, you will take an active role in promoting a strong safety culture across the site, ensuring that employees and subcontractors operate to the highest Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

As EHS Advisor, you will:

• Support the Project EHS Manager with the day-to-day management of Health & Safety on site.
• Carry out daily site safety inspections and walks, identifying hazards and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Ensure site personnel and subcontractors comply with project and company safety requirements.
• Implement and maintain the project’s Safety Management System.
• Conduct site audits and inspections and report findings to project management.
• Review subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Assist site teams in preparing Safe Plans of Action.
• Deliver site Health & Safety inductions.
• Coordinate and deliver toolbox talks.
• Organise and participate in project safety meetings.
• Assist with accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
• Identify training requirements across the project.
• Prepare and submit regular EHS reports.
• Work closely with supervisors, engineers and subcontractors to drive a proactive safety culture throughout the project.

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A relevant third-level qualification in Environmental Health & Safety / Occupational Health & Safety or similar.
• Approximately 3–5+ years’ experience in an EHS Advisor, Safety Officer or similar construction-based role.
• Previous experience within construction, electrical, utilities, energy or engineering projects would be highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of Risk Assessments, Method Statements and construction site safety procedures.
• Experience conducting site inspections and audits.
• Good communication skills with the confidence to engage with trades, subcontractors, supervisors and senior management.
• Strong organisational and reporting skills.
• Good Microsoft Office skills.
• Full clean driving licence.

Previous experience on substation, power, utilities, electrical infrastructure or major M&E projects would be particularly beneficial.
