About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading Building & Civil Engineering Contractor with an established presence across Ireland and the UK. Due to continued growth and the award of several new projects, they are seeking a Junior Construction Planner to join their team in Cork.

Key Responsibilities of the Junior Construction Planner

Project Scheduling

  • Assist in developing and maintaining detailed project programmes using Microsoft Project.
  • Support the implementation and coordination of the Last Planner System.
  • Monitor project milestones and key deliverables in collaboration with project teams.
  • Update project schedules to reflect project progress and identify programme variances.
  • Assist site and project teams in monitoring critical path activities and programme performance.
  • Support the preparation of short-term and long-term project schedules.

Risk Management

  • Assist in identifying potential project risks and programme delays.
  • Monitor project progress and support schedule adjustments to mitigate emerging issues.
  • Work with project stakeholders to help maintain programme objectives and timelines.

Communication & Reporting

  • Assist with the preparation of project progress reports and programme updates.
  • Support communication between project teams, site management, and senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to planning meetings and help track actions and outcomes.

Documentation & Project Controls

  • Maintain accurate project records, trackers, schedules, and reporting documentation.
  • Ensure planning information is current and readily available to project teams.
  • Assist in compiling programme data and performance metrics.

Tender Support

  • Assist with the preparation of construction programmes for tender submissions.
  • Support the Construction Planner in developing programme strategies for bid opportunities.

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest in construction planning and project delivery.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar planning software is advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Full driving licence desirable.
