Junior Site Engineer – Cork

Location: Cork, Ireland

Role Type: Full-time, Site-based Civil Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Junior Site Engineer to join our team on civil engineering projects across the Cork region. This role is ideal for candidates who have completed a placement year and are looking to build on their practical experience—particularly those who have already gained exposure to setting out and site operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily site operations alongside the Project Manager and senior engineers.
  • Carry out setting out using Total Station and GPS equipment (experience from placement year welcomed).
  • Assist with site surveys and help compile As-Built information for valuations and safety files.
  • Maintain accurate site records including diaries, photos, and allocation sheets.
  • Help review construction drawings and raise RFIs under guidance from senior staff.
  • Follow company HSEQ procedures and support quality inspections.
  • Assist in supervising subcontractors and communicating clear instructions.
  • Support the implementation of traffic management plans on site.

Qualifications & Training

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Completion of a placement year in a civil engineering environment.
  • Professional membership (e.g., Engineers Ireland) is an advantage but not required.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Practical setting-out experience gained during a placement or internship.
  • Exposure to civil works such as pipelines or reinforced concrete (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic AutoCAD skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Good organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
