Our client, a Tier 1 contractor, are looking to hire a Senior Engineer on a permanent basis to initially work on a large commercial construction project in East Cork.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the project from inception to completion. You will collaborate with project stakeholders, provide technical expertise, and ensure the successful delivery of a high-quality project. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of construction principles and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee construction projects, ensuring adherence to project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, including interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and regulations, while maintaining high-quality standards throughout all phases of the construction process.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and communication.
  • Monitor and manage resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, to optimize project efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges that may arise during the construction process, providing innovative solutions to ensure project success.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring all construction activities are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, progress reports, and records of project activities, ensuring timely and effective reporting to relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with the latest construction methodologies, technologies, and industry trends, and actively contribute to process improvements and innovation within the construction team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience (at least 7 years) in construction project management, preferably within the civil, commercial or industrial sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate project teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Relevant professional certifications and licenses are desirable.
