Senior Engineer – Residential Apartment Development (Cherrywood, South Dublin)

Project: 70 Residential Units + Basement Car Park
Location: Cherrywood, South Dublin
Employment Type: Full‑Time, Permanent
Salary: Up to €80k

Project timeline: 2 years
Start: As soon as available

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to take a leading role in the delivery of a high‑quality 70‑unit apartment development, including a multi-level basement car park, in Cherrywood, South Dublin.
The successful candidate will oversee all engineering aspects of the project, ensuring effective site management, quality control, and programme delivery while working closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors, and design teams.

This role is ideal for an engineer with strong concrete frame/residential experience and the confidence to take ownership of site engineering on a large urban development.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical

  • Set out, level, and survey the site using modern surveying equipment.
  • Supervise the construction of reinforced concrete frames and basement structures.
  • Coordinate all underground services, drainage, utilities and civils packages.
  • Oversee installation of façade systems, internal fit-out stages, and M&E coordination.
  • Ensure adherence to design specifications, construction drawings, regulations, and standards.
  • Provide technical support to the site team, subcontractors, and design consultants.

Quality, Compliance & Safety

  • Implement and maintain QA/QC processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Complete checklists, inspections, as-built records, and ensure compliance with BCAR (where required).
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with health & safety legislation, method statements, and RAMS.
  • Coordinate with assigned PSCS/PSDP personnel and ensure safe site practices.

Programming & Coordination

  • Assist the Project Manager with programme planning and sequencing of works.
  • Coordinate subcontractors daily to ensure delivery is aligned with programme.
  • Identify risks, delays, or design issues and propose mitigation solutions.
  • Conduct daily and weekly site meetings with internal teams and subcontractors.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate site records: permits, reports, site diaries, design changes.
  • Manage RFIs, technical submittals, and drawing registers.
  • Liaise with the design team, clerk of works, client representatives, and local authorities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree-qualified Civil Engineer / Construction Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5+ years site engineering experience (residential / RC Frame essential).
  • Strong experience on apartment developments and/or projects with basement construction.
  • Excellent setting out, surveying, and technical skills.
  • Strong understanding of Irish building regulations, BCAR, TGD documents, and IHSA safety standards.
  • Proven ability to coordinate subcontractors and drive productivity on site.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider project team.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience on multi‑storey residential schemes.
  • Experience working in high-density urban environments (tight logistics).
