Our client, a well established infrastructure maintenance contractor, is looking for a motivated and skilled Site Engineer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience to join the team on an infrastructure project in Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

Job Summary:

As a Site Engineer, you will play a critical role in the successful execution of construction projects by accurately translating design plans and specifications into on-site measurements and markings. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within strict timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret design plans, specifications, and technical drawings to determine accurate on-site locations, measurements, and levels for construction activities.
  • Utilize surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS, and laser levels, to carry out accurate measurements and set out reference points.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure accurate implementation of design plans and resolve any discrepancies or design-related issues.
  • Conduct on-site surveys to establish ground conditions, existing structures, and utilities, and incorporate this information into setting out plans.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, including setting out records, as-built drawings, and quality control reports.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant software tools for data analysis, modelling, and documentation purposes.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to construction teams and subcontractors to ensure accurate execution of setting out activities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Site Engineer within the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of construction techniques, surveying methods, and relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD)
  • Proficiency in using surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS, and laser levels.
  • Familiarity with Irish building regulations, health and safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Valid driver’s license as there may be a requirement to travel to different sites in the area.
