Senior Quantity Surveyor – Major Acute Healthcare Project (97 Bed Ward Block)

 Location: Wexford Town

Project: Major Acute Hospital Expansion

Type: Permanent

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a flagship acute healthcare development project, delivering a 97-bed inpatient ward block as part of a major hospital expansion.

This is a large-scale, multi-storey build in a live hospital environment, requiring a commercially astute QS with strong experience in complex construction projects, stakeholder coordination, and cost control.

Project Overview

  • Six-storey inpatient ward block with rooftop plant
  • 97 beds (General & Specialist Wards)
  • Ancillary clinical, therapy, and staff facilities
  • Multi-storey car park & campus infrastructure upgrades
  • Live hospital environment with high compliance and safety standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Full commercial management of the project from inception to completion
  • Preparation, review, and management of:
    • Budgets & cost plans
    • Tender documentation & procurement
    • Subcontractor packages
  • Management of valuations, interim payments, and final accounts
  • Cost reporting and forecasting to senior stakeholders
  • Assessment and negotiation of variations and claims
  • Strong involvement in contract administration (likely NEC / JCT / Public Works)
  • Liaison with:
    • Project Managers
    • Design teams
    • Site teams
    • Client representatives
  • Ensuring commercial processes align with project governance and compliance standards

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 8–15+ years’ experience in Quantity Surveying
  • Proven track record on large-scale building projects (healthcare, commercial, residential)
  • Experience working in live or highly regulated environments (healthcare a big advantage)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Cost control & reporting
    • Procurement strategy
    • Contractual entitlement
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
