Ward Personnel Staff, Brian Goode and Patrick Toye, were delighted to attend Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Safety Summit24 in Croke Park on Tuesday 14th May 2024.
This was a fabulous event, with over 250 delegates attending, with great speakers and so much to take away from it.
In his opening remarks, Frank Kelly, Chairman of the CIF Safety & Health Committee, emphasised the urgent need for embracing new technologies to enhance health and safety protocols in construction, advocating for continuous improvement and innovation.
Karl Simons OBE brought his expertise to the forefront, illustrating how AI and digital solutions are transforming remote fieldwork operations in construction. Fostering a culture where every error is used as a learning opportunity.
Captain Niall Downey shared some details of the safety management systems developed for aviation and discussed how they could be adapted to significantly enhance safety in construction.
Fergus Farrell’s keynote address was a highlight of the day, as he recounted his incredible recovery and subsequent adventures, inspiring all with his resilience and positive attitude.
Dermot Carey then wrapped up the day by highlighting the significant improvements in safety in Ireland over the last 10 years in particular, and the importance of maintaining a continuous improvement mindset in relation to all Health and Safety matters.
