Jamie Hanley from our Dublin Labour and Trades team met with some leaving cert students over zoom through the Dublin Northwest Partnership last Tuesday. It was great to see how eager the students were to learn more information about careers in the construction sector. Jamie covered topics with the students around how to prepare for an interview, types of roles in construction, how to approach a potential employer, daily duties on a site and responsibilities on site including communication etc.
The students had some great questions for Jamie, and he gave them a very good overview of how to get a start and gain some experience on a site, and he also helped them understand some of the apprenticeship options open to them. Jamie was delighted to be involved in the great work that the Dublin Northwest Partnership are doing to promote careers in the construction industry in secondary schools in the northwest area of Dublin.
